As an artist, my work is rooted in the exploration of boundaries—between control and chaos, material and intangible, known and unknown. Printmaking, with its intricate processes and rich textures, offers a medium through which I can express this duality. Each piece is a journey into the intersection of precision and instinct, where the act of creation becomes both a discovery and a dialogue.
My artistic practice is rooted in exploring the interplay between intention and chance. Through printmaking, I engage in a dialogue with the materials, tools, and techniques, inviting them to participate in the creation of each piece. This collaborative approach allows for a dynamic and evolving relationship between myself and the medium.
Within my printmaking, I navigate the liminal space between control and surrender, where deliberate craftsmanship meets the unpredictable. The act of carving into linoleum becomes a ritual of precision, yet I allow the hand’s impulse to guide me toward unforeseen marks. This interplay of structure and chance births a kind of visual rhythm—alive, shifting, and untamed.
I invite the viewer into a layered experience where color, texture, and form unfold slowly, urging contemplation. The prints are tactile artifacts, their surfaces whispering of tension, release, and the unseen forces that shape them. Through this dialogue of opposites, I aim to stir a deep, unspoken response—a feeling that lingers beyond comprehension.
Ultimately, my work seeks to transcend the boundaries of the material and the linguistic, gesturing toward something ineffable. I view printmaking as an alchemical process, where each piece holds within it the potential for transformation, both for itself and for those who engage with it. I am merely the conduit, humbled by the work’s ability to speak in ways words cannot.
The *Red Line* series, born in 2023, emerged from a period of profound transformation, shaped by trauma and the physical challenges I’ve faced. Moving from linocut to oil pastels—a medium once unfamiliar—has unlocked new ways of telling instinctual, gestural stories, tapping into raw emotion and primal narratives.
The red line serves as both a literal and metaphorical boundary, a symbol of my journey into the unknown. It represents the space where art, healing, and personal growth converge, pushing the limits of comfort to uncover something deeply human and connective.
